Thieves arrested in Andhra involved in Goa ATM thefts | Goa News – Times of India

Ponda: A Ponda police team that had gone to Andhra Pradesh, has confirmed that the thieves arrested by the Gannavaram police in Krishna district of AP were involved in the robbery of ATMs at Tisk-Usgao in Ponda.
A gang of six masked robbers had detached two ATMs of two different banks at Tisk, and decamped with it in the early hours of August 18, this year. Both the ATMs were later found abandoned at Piliyem-Dharbandora, about a km away, but one was broken and another intact. The thieves could rob Rs 13.37 lakh from the single machine of HDFC bank.
In a similar style, another attempt was made to rob an ATM in Gannavaram, however, a police constable had foiled their bid to rob the machine. The gang had even attacked the police constable, but AP police succeeded in nabbing two among the gang of six.
While the four are absconding, the two arrested are in the custody of Gannavaram police.Ponda police said they will bring the accused to Goa for further investigation.
