‘They will threaten me, scold me, but…’, challenge Abhishek Banerjee

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee today challenged the officials and said that he will not bow his head against the strong strategy of central agencies. Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, made this remark at a time when his wife Rujira Banerjee is being questioned by the CBI in Kolkata. Abhishek Banerjee’s remarks came after a roadshow in Agartala, the capital of Tripura.

Notably, Abhishek Banerjee is spearheading the party’s campaign for the upcoming elections in BJP-ruled Tripura. Abhishek Banerjee said: “You have agency in your hands, what’s so scary about that?” He continued, “No matter how many obstacles come, I will not bow my head. They will threaten me, scold me, but will not do anything.”

CBI is interrogating Rujira Banerjee in the coal smuggling case today. According to sources, some new information has come in the hands of the Central Intelligence Department in the investigation of coal smuggling. Further, the CBI claimed that the evidence was inconsistent with the earlier statement made by Abhishek’s wife in the coal case. Therefore, Rujira will be questioned mainly in relation to accounts in foreign banks, CBI sources said.

Rujira Banerjee was served a notice last week in the coal smuggling case and sought her re-interrogation. According to CBI sources, a team of eight people has been formed today to interrogate Abhishek’s wife. The team also includes women officers of CBI.
