‘They attacked our Parliament, Mumbai’: S Jaishankar on why Pakistan is ‘epicentre of terrorism’

New Delhi: India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Pakistan for harboring, recruiting and funding terrorists. Jaishankar said, “If you (Pakistan) control your sovereign territory, which I believe they do. If terrorist camps operate in broad daylight with recruitment and funding, can you really tell me?” Could Pakistan not know this? Specifically, they’re going. Speaking at a joint press briefing with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg on Monday, Jaishankar said, “Their influences cannot be contained within one region, especially when they are involved in narcotics and illegal arms trade, and be deeply involved with other forms of transnational crime. Since the epicenter is located close to India, our experiences and insights are naturally useful to others.”

In an indirect attack on the neighboring country, Jaishankar said, “Pakistan is the country which attacked the city of Mumbai, which is behind hotels and foreign tourists, who send terrorists across the border every day.”

Jaishankar began his two-nation tour of Cyprus and Austria on 29 December. His visit to Austria will end on January 3.
