Prayagraj: State government-run hospitals, medical colleges and community health services will get more than 3,000 new staff nurses. 3,014 nurses selected for Staff Nurse Recruitment-2021, results of which have been declared, amid fears of possible outbreak of third wave of Kovid Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Tuesday
The recruitment process was completed in a record five months. The result is available on the website of UPPSC, its secretary Jagdish said.
Staff Nurse/Sister Grade-II (Male and Female) was conducted by the Department of Medical Education and Training, Medical and Health Services and King George’s Medical University, Lucknow.
The commission had accepted online applications from eligible candidates for 4,743 vacancies. A total of 1,02,041 candidates had applied.
The commission had conducted the recruitment examination within one and a half months on October 3 in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur and Meerut, in which 83,564 candidates appeared.
Around 50 men and 1,627 women have been selected against 2,582 posts (50 men and 2,532 women) in the Department of Medical and Health Services, while 90 men and 1,627 women have been selected against 1,235 posts (90 men and 1,145 women) in the Department of Medical Education and Training. 623 women have been selected. UPPSC Secretary Jagdish informed that 926 posts (46 male and 880 female), 46 male and 578 female candidates have been declared selected in King George’s Medical University.
Out of a total of 4,743 posts, 3,014 candidates have been selected while 1,729 posts could not be filled as the candidates did not get the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by the commission.
An official spokesperson said that during the time of COVID-19, the state government had actively worked to fill up the vacant posts in the health department to meet the requirement of medical staff.
He said that 4,062 candidates were interviewed on priority basis for 3,620 posts of allopathic medical specialists like Pediatrician, Anesthetist, Physician, Pathologist etc.
It took just four months for UPPSC to select 1,237 specialists.
