A viral video has surfaced on social media in which a plane can be seen making an emergency landing on a highway in North Carolina. The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing as his aircraft experienced an engine failure on 3 July. However, the pilot made a safe landing through traffic without injuring anyone.
Two people were on board the plane, pilot Vincent Fraser and his father-in-law. They were flying over Swain County when the engine failed. The Swain County Sheriff’s Office shared the video on its Facebook applauding the pilot for the safe landing.
“This is the view of the Pilot Go Pro camera from the cockpit of the aircraft upon emergency landing on Hawaii. 74 on Sunday July 3, 2022. What a great job and no casualties. Amazing if you look closely at 0:20 you will see that the pilot was able to avoid the power lines. There were many things that could have been disastrous but it didn’t. Sheriff Curtis Cochran,” read the post.
As the plane began to take off, Fraser immediately began looking for a safe place to land. “The first thing that came to my mind was that I don’t want to hurt anyone, nor do I want to kill anyone. So, you know, that was my main concern,” Fraser said in an interview.
He further said that as he was trying to restart the plane and was trying to fly a bit, it would only take off for 3-5 seconds and would sink again.
Fraser was able to bring down the plane by clearing power lines and carefully driving vehicles on the highway.
