The fifteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a few weeks away but Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are yet to announce their new captain. As Virat Kohli resigned from the post last year, the franchise is yet to name his successor. However, the team has announced that it will reveal the name of its new leader on March 12.
This will be revealed at an event called ‘RCB Unbox’ in Church Street, Bengaluru. On Thursday, the franchise posted a video clip on social media in which Kohli can be seen speaking about the event. Expressing his excitement for the new season, the former captain teased ‘a few updates’ for fans.

But before he could complete it, the video was shortened.
“Hello guys, some update for you guys. As you know, we are going to start our season very soon. [It’s] Something I’m really excited about. Like I said, new energy. Really looking forward to this season. First and foremost the news is…” Kohli said in the video.

It is likely that the full version of the video may come out on a day when the team will announce their next captain. In IPL 2021, the franchise’s top scorer Glenn Maxwell is leading the way along with former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik and former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis.

Despite being in the city, Kohli will not be a part of the event as he is currently in a bio bubble as Team India prepares for the second Test against Sri Lanka. Starting Saturday, the game is going to be a day-night affair; Second Pink Test to be played on Indian soil.
