JAIPUR: The Congress government in Rajasthan has completely lost its credibility among the people as it failed to fulfill the promises made in the party’s 2018 election manifesto, BJP state president Satish Poonia said on Saturday. He also exuded confidence that the BJP would form the government in the state after the 2023 assembly elections.

“Congress had promised that it will waive farmers’ loans in 10 days, give unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 to unemployed youth and will not increase electricity rates, but the Ashok Gehlot government has turned its back on all these promises, which is one of the reasons. There is huge resentment among the people against the Congress government.”

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day meeting of the BJP State Working Committee, Poonia claimed that crime has increased so much in Rajasthan that it has become the country’s top state in terms of crimes. He called upon the party leaders and workers to make Rajasthan a Congress-free state.

Poonia expressed confidence that the party would win the next assembly elections in the state in 2023 and form the government. He said that it is possible only in the BJP that Narendra Modi, a tea seller, becomes the Prime Minister.

In the meeting, a political resolution was passed by the committee members to thank Prime Minister Modi for the work of the Government of India in areas such as social security, agriculture, environment, cultural values, internal security and border security and welfare of the poor.

The BJP targeted the Congress government in the state over law and order, loan waiver for farmers, high rates of electricity and water and corruption among other issues. The BJP State Working Committee meeting will have six sessions and the Union Home Minister will address the concluding session on Sunday.

After the working committee meeting, Shah will also address a meeting of the party’s public representatives.
