The battle of Lakhimpur violence has now reached Rashtrapati Bhavan. On Wednesday, a delegation led by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi met President Ram Nath Kovind. Congress leaders submitted facts and memorandum related to Lakhimpur violence to the President. Congress leaders have demanded the removal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, father of accused Ashish Mishra, from his post.

After meeting the President, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The victims’ families say that whoever killed their son. He should be punished. The father of the person (Ashish Mishra) who committed the murder is the country’s Minister of State for Home. As long as he is in his post, justice will not be served. We have told this to the President.

Taking forward Rahul Gandhi’s point, Priyanka also said, ‘The Minister of State for Home is the father of the criminal. Unless he is dismissed, justice cannot be done. This is the demand of the families of martyr journalists and farmers. He told that the President has assured that he himself will talk to the government on this matter today.

2 big demands of Congress
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that we gave all the information regarding the Lakhimpur Kheri violence to the President. We have placed two demands before them. There should be an impartial inquiry by a first-sitting judge. Second- Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra should either resign or be sacked. The delegation also included senior leaders AK Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and organization general secretary KC Venugopal.

Such was the violence in Lakhimpur
On October 3 (Sunday), farmers had shown black flags protesting against Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra. During this, a car had crushed the farmers. Four farmers were killed in this. After this violence broke out. It is alleged that during the violence that erupted, the farmers had beaten to death four people including a driver. A journalist was also killed in this violence.

In this case, a case of murder and criminal conspiracy was registered against 15 people including Union Minister’s son Ashish Mishra. Ashish Mishra has been arrested by the SIT and sent to jail.
