Rohit was handed the reign of captaincy of India in T20Is after the conclusion of the 2021 T20 World Cup. Rohit’s first assignment as India’s permanent T20I captain came from the 2021 T20 WC final against New Zealand in the three-match T20I series last month. The Mumbaikar started off in his style of T20I captaincy after beating New Zealand 3-0.
Statistically, Kohli was India’s most successful captain in ODIs. He led India in 95 matches, winning 65 and losing 27 matches. He also guided India to the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy, where they lost to bitter rivals Pakistan, and to the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup. Team India was thrown out of the fifty-over World Cup by New Zealand.
