Thane: Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske has ordered a probe into a road widening project executed a few years ago, after the general body was informed on Monday that the Thane administration had bypassed the prescribed protocol and the general body while carrying out the work approval was abandoned.

A red-faced administration admitted that the widening had been done over and above 40 meters, after which Mayor Naresh Mhaske ordered the formation of an investigation into the matter and the submission of a report within ten days.
