Hyderabad: Biennial elections on 12 Telangana Legislative Council The seats in nine local authority constituencies will go to polls on December 10. Announcing the election schedule on Tuesday, the Election Commission of India said the election notification would be issued on November 16.
The last date for filing nominations is November 23. The results will be declared on December 14. Following the announcement of the schedule, the model code of conduct came into effect immediately in nine local authority constituencies, where polling would be held for 12 seats.
Local authority constituencies include Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Medak, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad and Rangareddy.
The Election Commission ordered Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to depute a senior officer to ensure that the COVID-19 guidelines are followed during the elections.
The tenure of 12 MLCs including K Kavita, daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, will end on January 4, 2022.
Among others whose term will also expire on January 4: Poornam Satheesh Kumar, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Tera Chinnappa Reddy, V Bhupal Reddy, Balasani Lakshminarayana, T Bhanuprasad Rao, Naradasu Lakshmana Rao, Kasireddy Narayan Reddy, K Damodar Reddy, Patnam Mahendra Reddy and Sunkari Raju (all from TRS).
