Officials have told that at present further investigation is being done in the matter. On Tuesday, a significant seizure of over 1,800 grams of gold, estimated to be worth over Rs one crore, was made from three passengers at the Hyderabad airport.

Customs officials said on Friday that gold worth over Rs 42 lakh has been seized at the Telangana airport. Gold was found hidden in the rectum of a passenger in the form of gold paste.

The interception was made by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit of Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The weight of the seized gold is approximately 685.7 grams and its estimated value is Rs 42,78,768.

“Based on specific information received, an Indian male passenger from Muscat was intercepted by Customs Air Intelligence Unit of Hyderabad Customs, RGIA. The passenger was found to have gold plating which had been concealed in his rectum. The Customs seized 685.7 grams of gold worth Rs 42,78,768, officials told news agency ANI.
