Sanjay Kumar, the Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar constituency, was arrested by the Warangal police on April 5 for allegedly leaking the question paper of the secondary school examination.

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar has lodged a complaint with the Karimnagar police that he lost his mobile phone during his recent detention in the question paper leak case and has requested the authorities to trace it.

Sanjay Kumar, a Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar constituency, was arrested by the Warangal police on April 5 after he was picked up in the middle of the night over the alleged leak of secondary school examination question papers and was initially placed under preventive arrest .

In his complaint to the police on Sunday, Sanjay Kumar said that he was detained by the Karimnagar police on the intervening night of April 4 and April 5 and taken to the Bommalaramram police station in a police van.

He submitted that during the journey, he realized that he had lost his mobile phone and claimed that this was brought to the notice of the police officers traveling in the van.

After being taken on remand, Sanjay Kumar informed his lawyers about the missing mobile phone.

Sanjay Kumar said in the complaint, “I remember that I had a mobile (phone) with me when I was taken into custody.” Party-related information is stored in it.” After Sanjay Kumar’s arrest, Warangal Police Commissioner AV Ranganath had said: “There was a WhatsApp conversation between Sanjay and the second accused (a former journalist of a TV channel). There used to be calls too. When we asked Sanjay, he said that his phone is not with him. If we check his phone, some more details will come out. Defame the state government.

Pictures of SSC Telugu and Hindi question papers surfaced on social media platforms on April 3 and April 4, when the exams were underway. The exams across the state began on April 3.
