Tata Nexon EV Driver Crashes into Wall, Presses Accelerator Instead of Brake

Drivers with no driving skills and new licenses often commit mistakes that give them a near-death experience. The most common is the confusion between the brand and the accelerator pedal. In an automatic car, this problem is more permanent than in a manual car. Also, when the car is running on an electric powertrain, mistaking the accelerator pedal for the brake can be costly. After all, electric cars have loads of torque right from the point go. Well, something similar happened when a Tata Nexon EV owner brought down a wall with the same confusion.

The incident took place when the owner, while reversing the electric SUV, pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal. thus, reversing the car at its maximum speed, thus spinning it out of control and crashing into a gate and a wall. Both Wall and Gate succumbed to their injuries, while the Nexon EV escaped with minor injuries. It is a matter of honor that no one was injured in the accident. Where IC engines take a while to generate their peak torque output, electric motors deliver only on a firm push of the throttle.

The electric compact SUV is available in two variants – Tata Nexon EV Prime and Tata Nexon EV Max. The claimed range of the Nexon EV Prime is 312 km, with a 30.2 kWh battery pack. The Prime can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 9.99 seconds, and the power and torque outputs are 129 PS and 245 Nm respectively.
