CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government has allowed schools to operate physical classes Colleges are also allowed to function from February 1, following the COVID protocol, from February 1 for all students from class 1 to class 12. (Educational institutions functioning as Kovid Care Centers will not open on February 1.)
A government release said the ban on play schools and nursery schools would continue.
In view of the decreasing cases of Kovid, the government has lifted the night curfew from Friday. The entire lockdown has also been lifted on Sunday.
Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday held a meeting with health experts, officials on the relaxation of the Kovid lockdown.
After the meeting, the government announced that the ban on cultural festivals and political meetings would continue. People should follow the COVID protocol during local body elections.
Hotels, bakeries will be allowed to function only with 50% occupancy. Marriage ceremonies will be allowed with only 100 people while funerals will be allowed with 50 people.
Theatres, multiplexes, gyms, clubs, beauty parlors, salons, concerts, conferences, indoor stadiums will be allowed to function with 50% capacity.
Stalin asked the people to follow the proper behavior of Kovid-19 and fully cooperate in the government’s efforts to save people from infection.
