Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin receives booster vaccine dose in Chennai, urges eligible persons to take the vaccine

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin takes a preventive shot of Kovidshield vaccine at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday. The DMK leader took the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in April and after a gap of nine months took a booster shot as per norms.

After getting the vaccine shot, Stalin tweeted, “I took a booster dose as a frontline warrior. All frontline workers and senior citizens over 60 years of age with comorbidities should take a booster dose.

“Let’s protect ourselves with Vaccine Shield and protect the country too,” he said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin on Monday launched the vaccination campaign at MRC Nagar. In all, the state has identified over 35 lakh eligible beneficiaries for the precautionary dose.

The drive to give a precautionary third dose of vaccines has begun from Monday and doses are provided to health and frontline workers, senior citizens with comorbidities as COVID-19 cases rise in the country. More than 10 lakh doses were given till 8 pm on the first day as a walk-in vaccination campaign till Monday.

As per the rules, a booster dose will be given to the beneficiaries only 9 months after getting the first shot of the Kovid-19 vaccine. All eligible people should be vaccinated at the same time as the first and second doses. However, no announcement has yet been made on a booster dose for adults.
