The England team claimed their second T20 World Cup trophy last year as skipper Jos Buttler led England from the front in their quest for silverware.

In the summit clash, England got the better of Pakistan to emulate veteran Paul Collingwood’s feat in 2010 as he hoisted the coveted trophy in the air at the end of the day.

England had won the toss and elected Pakistan to bat first as the call ultimately proved correct. Babar Azam’s men finished their 20 overs at the crease at 137 for eight with big contributions from skipper Azam and Shah Masood.

Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes took two wickets each, while Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone dismissed one player each.

Pakistan proved some resistance with the ball as they ensured that the Englishmen would not take the final game lightly and they were made to fight hard to wrap up the game in the 19th over.

Haris Rauf troubled the English lineup as he dismissed two batsmen, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Wasim took a wicket each to power England’s chase.

But, at the end of the day, a half-century from Stokes helped England cross the line to break Pakistani hearts.

India made it to the semi-finals of the tournament before being defeated in the last four by England as the Buttler-led side registered a 10-wicket win over the Boys in Blue.

Hardik Pandya’s blistering 63 off just 33 balls helped India score 168 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. But, the target proved too small for the likes of on-song Buttler and Alex Hales, who returned to the international cricket scene after a few years in the wilderness.

England finished the game in 16 overs, with Hales topping the run charts with his unbeaten 86, while Buttler joined him in scoring 80 runs from the other end in a resounding victory.
