A Syrian boy who told rescue workers he wanted to meet Cristiano Ronaldo after a devastating earthquake in February came face to face with his idol on Friday after being invited to play for his club Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia .

In a video shared on social media last month after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, Nabil Saeed pleaded to rescue workers in Syria.

More than 50,000 people have died due to the earthquake. Officials said the death toll in Syria is more than 5,900.

Saeed beamingly met the Portuguese forward briefly before the match, giving him a high-five and a big hug.

“When I saw Ronaldo, I thought it was a dream. I couldn’t believe myself. I never knew when this dream would end. I pray to God that it doesn’t remain a dream.”

Saeed cheered on Ronaldo and Al Nasr as they beat Al Batin 3-1 in Riyadh to stay two points clear at the top of the Saudi Pro League.

“I wish everyone could see Ronaldo. He is a very nice person,” Said said.
