Symptoms in the body can help differentiate between Covid-19, dengue or malaria, know how

Vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria are on the rise with the onset of monsoon, but amid the corona, people are confused about how to find out the cause of the problem due to the similar symptoms between the three diseases. Fever, headache and fatigue are experienced in all three diseases. Dr. Sandeep B., of Fortis Hospital Mulund. Gore explains, “Dengue and Kovid-19 are caused by a virus, while the reason behind malaria disease is parasites. All conditions have characteristic similar symptoms, which can confuse how to differentiate between the three.”

How to differentiate between Malaria, Dengue and COVID-19: Loss of smell and taste, chest heaviness, cough and shortness of breath are typical of COVID-19 infection. The doctor says that the obvious symptom of Kovid-19 is loss of taste and smell. Not so in case of dengue or malaria. “Covid-19 is a respiratory disease, shortness of breath, uncomfortable chest pain that does not usually occur in patients suffering from malaria or dengue,” he continued. However, he insisted that it is best to see a doctor and get yourself tested as soon as possible.

According to Dr Sudha Menon of Fortis Hospital Bangalore, cough, cold, sore throat, loss of taste and smell and breathlessness are among the symptoms of Covid. Dengue can cause nausea, pungent taste, fever, eye pain and rash. Malaria can cause severe cold, fever and frequent sweating.

How can COVID-19, Dengue and Malaria spread?
Covid-19 is transmitted by air and is transmitted through other humans, while dengue and malaria are transmitted through mosquito bites. The corona virus is mainly spread through respiratory droplets caused by talking, sneezing and coughing. Dengue, on the other hand, is caused by four different types of virus and infects a person through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. When an infected female Anopheles mosquito bites a person, she becomes infected with malaria.
