Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Delhi beat Uttar Pradesh by 9 wickets for second consecutive win

Delhi displayed a clinical all-rounder as they beat Uttar Pradesh by nine wickets in a Group E match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament here on Saturday to register their second successive win. Invited to bat, Uttar Pradesh could manage only 108 for 8 in their 20 overs with a Delhi pace quartet led by Deepak Punia (3/15) tormenting them throughout their innings. .

Simarjit Singh and Pradeep Sangwan took two wickets each while Navdeep Saini took one wicket. For Uttar Pradesh, Madhav Kaushik scored 30 off 37 balls while fellow opener Abhishek Goswami scored 21 runs.

Delhi then chased down the target of 109 with opener Anuj Rawat scoring 50 off 32 balls with 40 balls to spare. Second openers Dhruv Shourie and Nitish Rana remained unbeaten on 38 and 14 respectively as Delhi reached 109 for 1 wicket. 13.2 overs. On Friday, Delhi beat Chandigarh by seven wickets.

In the last Group E match of the day too, Saurashtra beat Uttarakhand by two runs in Sultanpur.
