actor sushmita sen Says that he is excited about the International Emmy Award nomination for his first web series “Aarya”. The Disney+ Hotstar series directed by Ram Madhvani has made it to the last four of the Best Drama Series category. The show is nominated along with Chile’s “El Presidente”, Israel’s “Tehran” and the UK show “Late She Goes” season two.
“It’s surreal to know that ‘Aarya’ has been recognized globally among the best drama series in the world and to be nominated on a stage as prestigious as the International Emmy Awards is unprecedented.
“I am overwhelmed by the love and trust of audiences around the world who have worked hard for our love and would like to thank each and every one from the bottom of my heart for the encouragement,” Sen said in a statement.
“Arya” is the official remake of the popular Dutch crime-drama “Penoza”.
The Indian adaptation revolves around Arya Sareen, a happily married woman played by Sen, whose world is turned upside down when her husband, pharma baron Tej Sareen (Chandrachur Singh) is shot.
Produced by Madhvani and Sandeep Modi, “Aarya” garnered accolades after its debut in June last year.
The team is currently working on its second season, and the actor said he hopes to “recreate the magic” in the sophomore run.
Madhvani said that the nomination confirms the hard work put in by the team in making the show.

In addition to “Arya”, actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui And Vir Das has also been nominated by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Siddiqui has earned a nomination in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his Netflix film “Serious Men”, while Das’s Netflix comedy special “Veer Das: For India” has been nominated in the Comedy Segment.
