Sushant Singh Rajput case: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday filed draft charges against actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Shoik and others before a special court in a drug case related to the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput. Special Public Prosecutor Atul Sarpande said the prosecution maintained the charge against all the accused as mentioned in the charge sheet filed before the court. The prosecution has proposed charges in court to Riya and Shoik for drug abuse and for the purchase and payment of such substances for deceased actor Rajput.

Sarpande said that the court is going to frame charges against all the accused. However, this could not be done as some of the accused applied for acquittal.

He said that the court has said that charges will be framed only after the discharge petitions are decided. On Wednesday, all the accused including Riya and Showing appeared in the court.

Special Judge VG Raghuvanshi, who heard matters related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, posted the matter for hearing on July 12.

Chakraborty was arrested in this case in September 2020. He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court almost a month after his arrest.

Apart from Riya, her brother Shoik Chakraborty and several others have also been presented as accused in the case of alleged drug consumption, possession and financing. Most of them are out on bail.
