Actor Sunny Deol feels that the release of his latest film, Gadar 2, has enabled him to connect with younger audiences who are now watching his earlier works. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film, which was a big hit at the box office, premiered in August and amassed over Rs 500 crore in global box office collections. This success mirrors the achievement of its prequel, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was the highest-grossing Hindi film in 2001.

“With Gadar 2, what happened is all my fans and all the people that wanted to see the kind of cinema which they had seen in Gadar… We kept the story that way and people came to see the character, which is deep rooted in their hearts. But the beauty of it was the new generation that has got connected to me. I was not connected to them otherwise. They got to see what I’m doing (in Gadar 2) and are now seeing some of my older films,” the actor told PTI in during an interview.

In Gadar 2, the 66-year-old actor revisited his character, Tara Singh, in a narrative set years after the events of the first film. The storyline follows Tara Singh’s return to Pakistan to rescue his imprisoned son, Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma, amid the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

After the success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol is reportedly ready to roar on the big screens with the sequel of his another iconic hit, Border. According to reports, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sunny Deol are set to play the lead roles in this war-driven movie. The film will be directed by filmmaker JP Dutta’s daughter Nidhi Dutta. JP Dutta is the director of the 1997-film Border, which was based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The movie’s shooting is reportedly scheduled to start next year. There has been no official confirmation from the makers about the same.
