Jagdish has always seen his family struggle financially as they depend on farming, at times the family had nothing to feed

Jagdish Chandra, the son of a farmer from Umaria village, Bisalpur, became the first child in the family to go to college. The 22-year-old now works as a software developer at Lenskart in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Although the financial condition of his family was not very good, he says that his father always encouraged him to continue his education.

Jagdish has always seen his family struggle financially as they depend on farming, at times the family had nothing to feed. To earn money for the family, his father used to work as a laborer along with farming.

Jagdish has always been fond of computers. After completing his schooling in a government school, Jagdish moved to Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh to pursue B.Tech in Computer Science. His passion for computer programming languages ​​grew more and more and inspired him to find solutions to complex problems by learning programming languages ​​on his own. However, he did not have the money to buy a laptop until his second year of college.

“I was always attracted to computers but never got a chance to use computers as my school did not have good infrastructure. After a lot of struggle, I finally got a laptop in my second year of college. I started watching YouTube videos to learn computer programming, web applications and software development,” said Jagdish.

It was his fascination with computers that prompted Jagdish to discover Newton School from where he completed an online coding program that placed him as a developer on an e-commerce portal. He said that even completing the course was a struggle for him as there were frequent power cuts in his village. He said that he used to wake up at night to give lectures.

When asked about his future goals, he said that he wants to make a successful career in the IT sector. “If a company hires me, they should know that if I am not there, it will affect them. My only aim is to be irreplaceable. Education is the only thing that can bring people out of poverty,” he said. Change their life
