Around 87,879 students appeared for the first shift of CUET-UG conducted at 447 centres. Those who exited the test described it as “moderate” and glitch-free.

The first shift of the nationwide CUET passed off smoothly without any major mishap as students who came out after the exam described the paper as “moderate” and the process glitch-free.

While the students wrote their 3-hour paper, anxious parents waited outside the examination hall on a day when the temperature in the city and neighboring areas remained above 40 degrees.

The first shift of CUET-UG was conducted across 447 centers in 271 cities with 87,879 students. At a center in Noida Sector 62, many students came out giggling with satisfaction. “It was not difficult. All the arrangements were up to the mark. I heard that students faced many problems last time, so naturally I was nervous. But today the exam was conducted smoothly at this center, Jyoti Sharma from Noida said.

“English was easy and general examination was of moderate difficulty. It turned out fine,” said the DU aspirant. Jyoti’s mother smiled seeing her daughter coming out of the centre.

“Last time we all saw there were a lot of issues. We didn’t want our daughter to face this kind of trouble. I was nervous about how the exam would go and it was also hot. I was worried about any disturbance,” said Sushmita.

Last year, the first session of CUET was marred by glitches and several technical issues.

Divyanshi, another aspirant, appeared confident and said that her tests were “excellent”. “I was able to attempt all the questions. I had General Test and English. These examinations help in maintaining objectivity. I’m happy.

All the same, a section of students condemned the authorities for not accepting PAN card as a valid identity proof and insisting only on Aadhaar.

“Is my PAN card not a valid proof with me for CUET exam? Then why didn’t they let me enter the exam hall,” tweeted a Nitish Kumar.

The second edition of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) began on Sunday, with over 14 lakh candidates appearing for undergraduate admissions in universities across the country.

Unlike last year, this time the exam is being conducted in three shifts.

Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be held from May 21 to May 31, but the National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to extend the schedule by at least four days to accommodate the higher number of candidates.
