A senior university official confirmed the incident and said that part of the ceiling of the bathroom collapsed due to moisture injuring a second year BA student in German language.

“The student suffered minor injuries and was taken to Safdarjung Hospital by the hostel warden. He is fine. He was x-rayed, which shows that everything is fine. The CT scan report is awaited,” the official said. “

The official said there are infrastructure issues in the university and hostels, especially those that are old, and in need of repair.

“We have not received the funds. We have asked for Rs 54 crore to do major repair work in the hostels but approval is awaited. We have done minor repair work in Brahmaputra hostel. After Sabarmati hostel there will be Narmada. These are old hostels,” They said.

However, a senior police officer said, “We have not received any PCR call or any complaint in this regard so far.”
