While releases on the big screen have come to a halt again, one medium that continues to churn out content despite the pandemic is OTT. The year has started off well with some tough and entertaining releases this week. Medical thriller Human, the love triangle Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen, and a famous real-life Bollywood love story in Ranjesh Hi Sahi are some of the new web series streaming now. The Hindi version of Allu Arjun’s blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise Part 1 is also available from this week.

Human (Disney + Hotstar)

Human is a medical thriller based on human drug trials in India. The series features a stellar cast starring Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari along with Vishal Jethwa, Ram Kapoor, Seema Biswas, Aditya Srivastava and Mohan Agashe. The suspense thriller unravels the unexpected mysteries of the world of drugs and its impact on people with a gripping tale of murder, mystery, lust and manipulation. Directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Mozez Singh, the Disney+ Hotstar special series is written by Mojaz Singh and Ishani Banerjee.

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (Netlix)

A man is caught between the woman who loves him and the one who wants him. In Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen, a romantic simple Vikrant (Tahir Raj Bhasin), becomes the subject of the desire of Poorva (Aanchal Singh), who will go to any lengths to get her. As Poorva tries to make her his own, starts destroying everything he holds dear, the mild-mannered Vikrant finds a new side emerging in her. To escape from Poorva’s clutches and reclaim his life with his true love Shikha (Shweta Tripathi), he goes down a dark path to regret later. Siddharth Sengupta, director, writer and producer best known for creating popular television shows including Balika Vadhu and the series Abduction, makes his Netflix debut with Yeh Kaali Aankhen.

Produced by Mahesh Bhatt, Vishesh Entertainment Production, written and directed by Pushpdeep Bhardwaj – the series revolves around a budding film director who gets into an extramarital affair with an eccentric superstar that changes his life forever. Is; She is torn between two worlds as her marriage with her first love spirals. Primarily set in 70s Bollywood, the story revolves around the lives of Shankar (Tahir Raj Bhasin), Aamna (Amala Paul) and Anju (Amrita Puri). The story explores the complex human relationships between adults and the different shades of love. Pushpa: The Rise—Part 1 in Hindi (Amazon Prime Video)

Blockbuster action thriller Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 is now available in Hindi on Prime Video. Written and directed by Sukumar and produced by Maithri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil alongside Allu Arjun in the lead roles. The mega-entertainer, which has garnered praise from fans and critics alike, is already streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada on the streaming service.

Reflecting on the second lockdown of the COVID pandemic that shook India, the anthology focuses on a message of hope and love amidst gloom.
