Till 1980, Vijay Mishra was away from politics. Petrol pumps and trucks were running. Kamalapati Tripathi, who was the CM of UP, said, “Vijay business will continue, now come into politics.” Vijay obeyed and joined politics.
Enter politics and bring threats
Vijay became the block chief for the first time in the 90s. It is said that he spent a lot of money in this election. The one who refused to vote was picked up. Till the year 2000, there used to be District Panchayat President Shiv Karan Yadav in Bhadohi. Once Shiv Karan had abused Mulayam Singh. When Vijay Mishra met Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mulayam asked Vijay that “Will you be able to defeat Shiv Karan?” Vijay agreed. Mulayam handed over three seats of the district panchayat to Vijay. Vijay lived up to the expectation and defeated Shiv Karan in the election of the President by winning all the three candidates. Vijay became special to Mulayam as soon as he won the first trust. The reward for this was the assembly ticket in 2002.
As soon as Mulayam became special, the influence of Vijay reached Gyanpur seat as well as Handia, Bhadohi and Mirzapur districts. In 2002, he became an MLA for the first time by defeating Gorakhnath Pandey. Also got Kailash Chaurasia from Mirzapur and Mahesh Narayan Singh from Handia. From here the passion of victory increased. The level of intimidation became high. Case on case went on. This number increased to 20 by 2005.
Cycle speed did not stop even in Maya wave
In 2007, the BSP government was formed, but could not stop Vijay’s ‘Victory’. In 2009, there was a by-election in Bhadohi seat. BSP nominated Gorakhnath Pandey as its candidate. 30 BSP ministers were camping. Mayawati knew that Vijay was dominant in the entire district, so he sent a message to her side but she turned it down. This thing shocked Mayawati.
Vijay Mishra’s influence became not only in Gyanpur but also in all the three seats of Bhadohi. The result was that till 2012, whoever he wanted would win.

Mayawati sent the police to arrest Vijay Mishra. Vijay got the news. Mulayam Singh was holding a meeting there. Vijay reached the stage. With folded hands, he stood in front of Mulayam Singh. Nandi attacked with remote bomb
On 12 July 2010, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, a cabinet minister in the BSP government, had gone to worship as usual in the morning, about 1 kilometer away from his home. Arriving at the temple and getting down from the car, the bomb kept in the scooty was detonated remotely. A plume of smoke rose. When the smoke rose, the bodies of Indian Express journalist Vijay Pratap Singh, Rakesh Malviya and the minister’s gunner were lying. Nandi’s stomach burst, intestines came out. The rags of the palm flew away. Nandi somehow escaped and entered the neighbor’s house. Another driver came and took the car round the city instead of the direct route and reached SRN. Nandi was not conscious for eight days.

Nandi’s wife Abhilasha Gupta lodged a case against Vijay Mishra, block chief Dilip Mishra and two others. The police started making arrests. Dilip Mishra was arrested. Vijay Mishra fled. Nothing was known of Vijay for seven months. Wearing ocher clothes, he roamed in Karnataka, Kolkata and Mumbai. The police declared the reward amount from 20 thousand to 50 thousand and then directly 2.5 lakh rupees. On 8 February 2011, STF arrested Vijay from Hauz Khas in Delhi.
Vijay grew a beard and mustache to avoid arrest. It was very difficult to recognize him.
After the arrest, the then ADG Brijlal held a press conference. A total of 62 criminal cases, including conspiracy, murder and attempt to murder, have been registered against Vijay Mishra, he said. Police said that on the call of Vijay Mishra, a person named Rajesh Pilot came to Prayagraj and arranged for the bomb.
Even after so many crimes, Mulayam Singh’s love did not diminish. He fielded the jailed Vijay again in the 2012 elections. Vijay defeated BSP by a huge margin of 37,674 votes. When the SP government was formed, Vijay came out, but he did not agree with Akhilesh and he cut the ticket of Vijay Mishra in the 2017 elections.
Talking to BBC, Vijay had said, We were not Bahubali till Netaji had work with Vijay Mishra, but when the work was over we suddenly became Bahubali. If we were only Bahubali then why did he give ticket in 2012? Why was my daughter given a Lok Sabha ticket in 2014? Why was my wife given MLC ticket in 2016?
Akhilesh Yadav had made Vijay Mishra’s wife Ramlali as MLC in 2016.
If won in 2017 the party itself suspended
In 2017 election Vijay Mishra contested from Nishad Party and defeated Mahendra Kumar Bind of BJP by 20,230 votes. Vijay Mishra turned against the office bearers of the party from which he won. As a result, he was suspended for working against the party.

When Yogi Adityanath became CM in 2017, Vijay Mishra used to say, “Maharaj ji is doing the right thing, but his officers are not right.” After 2019, Vijay turned completely against the BJP. The reason was that Krishna Mohan Tiwari, a relative of Kaulapur, one of Vijay’s own Dhanapur, while registering the case said, “MLA Vijay Mishra and his close associates intimidated and took away 13 truck-dumpers. They were taken away at the behest of Vijay’s daughter Reema and Seema. They were hidden at different places. Fake papers of two were also made by these people.”
