Nathan Lyon is the best offspinner in Australia Test history

Nathan Lyon will go down as one of the greatest spinners in Test history and certainly Australia’s greatest ever offspinner. Since making his debut in 2011, Lyon has so far become his team’s most prolific wicketkeeper in Test history with 479 wickets in 118 Tests.

Currently on India tour, the 35-year-old has been in scintillating form for Australia after making a quiet debut in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. In Nagpur, he finished with just one wicket, but in Delhi, he bounced back with five wickets to take his seven wickets from the match.

And then in Indore, he was the star performer as he took 11 wickets in the third Test to guide Australia to a massive nine-wicket win.

Lyon could be in his mid-thirties Michael Hussey feels the bowler is relatively young and should continue to play for some time to come provided he maintains his fitness.

“As long as he really wants to. He’s been amazing with his longevity and he’s actually still quite young. As long as his body holds up, he’s got years to go—” Every year.” sen radio,

“They always say spinners peak in their 30s and maybe late 30s, it’s a difficult art and I don’t know why he can’t last longer,” he added.

With Ahmedabad set to host the fourth and final Test of the series, Hussey feels Australia should partner Matthew Kuhnmann with Lyon if they go with two spinners for the contest.

“I’m really impressed with (Todd) Murphy, he looks really good. Having said that though, I like to have a balance in the attack where you have one guy getting the spin to the right-handed batsman and one The guy is spinning. I would probably lean towards Kuhnmann, but only because he is turning the ball in the opposite direction (to right-handers),” he said.
