Rajasthan News: Rajasthan Transport Minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas on Tuesday (February 14) said that the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Limited (RTDC) should start selling beer in its hotels to make more money. Addressing a program at Jaipur’s Gangaur Hotel, the minister said that RTDC should start selling beer and liquor in its hotels to recover its losses and function smoothly.

He said that through liquor trade, the state transport undertaking would earn so much money that it would lose count. Khachariawas said that in this day and age every hotel and restaurant should have a bar to attract guests, adding that their business would collapse if they did not serve alcohol. “Who will come (in RTDC hotels) if there is no bar?” said the minister.

The minister further proposed that hotels consider renting out space for wedding receptions to increase earnings. He said that if hotels allow marriage functions on their premises, they will get more bookings.

He said, “I remember my sister’s wedding reception, which was held in this hotel. I was very young then and Gangaur was one of the top hotels in the state. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the chief minister then.”

“Gangaur was also very popular among tourists when I was a student. Now there are bars everywhere. Hotels don’t run if there are no bars. RTDC used to welcome its guests with drinks. RTDC was the first to sell beer in its hotels. Was.” the minister added.

He claimed that the tourism undertaking was once known to serve liquor to guests in its hotels, adding that it should again start selling liquor at its establishments. The minister said that this RTDC would help in turning the hotels into big profits and would ensure that they run smoothly.

“Earlier you (RTDC) used to sell beer. Now you need to take back the license (from the government). I guarantee there will be no shortage of money after this,” he said.
