sports minister Anurag Thakur On Wednesday, the country’s Olympic contingent launched the song ‘Cheer4India’ and urged the public to rally wholeheartedly behind their athletes during the Tokyo Games.
Grammy Award-winning composer AR Rahman and young singer Ananya Birla collaborated to present the Indian contingent’s official song for the Tokyo Olympics, titled Cheer4India: Hindustani Way.
“I encourage all my countrymen to listen to the song, share it with fellow citizens and show the entire Indian contingent for the Tokyo Olympics that we are behind them,” Thakur said.
He thanked Rahman and Ananya for composing the song in such difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra said that the launch of the Official Cheer Song of Team Indian is the culmination of the hard work put in by all the stakeholders in the last 18 months.
MoS (Sports) Nisith Pramanik, Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, Director General Sports Authority of India Sandeep Pradhan and IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta were also present on the occasion.
