Spirit Airlines plane caught fire after brakes overheated while landing: Watch

In yet another horrific aviation incident, passengers on board Spirit Airlines flight narrowly escaped after Tampa-Atlanta Flight 383 caught fire while landing at Atlanta International Airport. Spirit Airlines said the fire at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport caused a brake overheating of the plane. No passengers were injured, the airline said, although it was a close encounter for the passengers. A video posted on social media showed smoke billowing out from under the plane, while another video showed brakes and tires on fire as the plane tried to stop on the runway.

Airport officials said the primary cause of the fire was the plane’s brakes, which overheated when it landed in Atlanta on Sunday and briefly caught fire. “The brakes in the landing gear of Spirit Airlines Flight 383 from Tampa ignited upon landing, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials,” wrote a tweet about the incident. Airport officials said Atlanta firefighters extinguished the fire and the plane was escorted to the gate for passengers to disembark.

A statement from the airline said, “The plane was escorted to the gate where guests disembarked safely without any injuries. Thanks to Atlanta first responders for meeting the aircraft immediately. The aircraft was temporarily removed from service for maintenance.” will be removed.”

Scotty Nelms, a passenger on the plane, told Fox 5 that the flight was uneventful until after landing and that passengers heard a strange sound from the left side of the plane.
No one knew what it was until we came to a complete stop in the middle of the landing strip. Nelms told Fox 5. We saw flames coming from the engine and people and I also started screaming.
