A letter written by Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi to opposition leader and prime ministerial aspirant Shahbaz Sharif has been accessed by CNN-News18 amid the political turmoil in the country.

In this Alvi says that Imran Khan Former Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed has been proposed to be made the caretaker prime minister in his place. The former cricket captain’s move comes after a joint opposition effort to remove the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader from the post of Prime Minister through a no-confidence motion.

As president, Alvi says in the letter, he must appoint a caretaker prime minister.

He says that if Shahbaz wants to propose a new name, he should do so by April 6.

The letter also states that if the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leaders do not respond within that time, action will be taken as per the country’s constitution.

Sources said that now it will be difficult for the opposition to act after Imran’s removal and the matter is in court.

He said that the opposition will meet on Tuesday and decide on a new strategy.
