South Africa assistant coach Enoch Nkewe resigns after differences with Mark Boucher

Enoch Nkwe, assistant coach of the South African cricket team, who was informed of his intention to resign, has officially stepped down, the country’s cricket board has confirmed. Cricket South Africa (CSA) said that the former cricketer had raised matters related to the culture of the national team.

Cricket South Africa said, “Cricket South Africa (CSA) regrets to announce the decision of Enoch Nkewe to step down as assistant coach of the Proteas men’s team. Enoch was also the team director for a brief period.” a statement.

CSA worked with Enoch to find out if there was a way to keep his services but it was unsuccessful. During the discussion, the CSA stated that they had raised concerns about the functioning and culture of the team environment.

“The Board will take necessary steps to investigate and resolve the issues raised by Enoch. We will not comment further on this until the process is over.”

A report by espncricinfo.com said that Nkwe had differences with head coach Mark Boucher and that the matters he raised with CSA are not related to racism. The report added that Nkwe also wanted a greater role on the technical side and less time in training sessions.
