Sourav Ganguly’s daughter, 3 other family members test Covid-19 positive

New DelhiFormer India captain and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s daughter Sana Ganguly, along with three other family members have tested COVID-19 positive, reported ANI.

Sana and other family members have isolated themselves and are not showing any symptoms. Sourav’s wife Dona Ganguly luckily tested negative for Covid.

Earlier, BCCI boss Sourav Ganguly himself had tested positive for Covid-19 on December 27 and it was later reported that the 49-year-old was infected with the delta version of the coronavirus.

After being discharged from Woodlands Nursing Home last month, Ganguly will be in home isolation for two weeks, news agency PTI reported.

In January 2021, Ganguly was admitted to the same Woodlands Nursing Home after suffering a cardiac arrest. The cricket legend had undergone angioplasty at that time.

The sudden rise in Covid-19 infections across India had given rise to speculations about the 2021-22 fate of Ranji Trophy, but Ganguly had then confirmed that the country’s premier first-class tournament would go ahead as planned.

This year, the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season was scheduled to begin from January 13. However, days after Ganguly’s statement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to postpone the Ranji Trophy, Col CK Nayudu Trophy and Senior Women’s T20 League. For the 2021-22 season in view of the rising COVID cases.

A few days before the tournament, some players and staff members of teams from the Ranji camps in Mumbai and Bengal tested positive for COVID-19.

Mumbai Ranji team all-rounder Shivam Dube and the team’s video analyst tested positive for Covid-19. In the Bengal Ranji camp, six players and a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
