Slight decline in COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu, increase by 25 in Chennai Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: For the second day, the state reported a decline in new Covid-19 cases, with the health department registering 1,544 cases on Tuesday as against 1,556 on Monday. Chennai and 15 other districts, however, recorded a marginal increase in new cases.
Coimbatore, which reported the highest number of new cases on Tuesday, was the only district to report more than 200 cases. The district reported 217 cases against 206 reported on Monday. Later Coimbatore, Chennai, which reported 194 cases on Tuesday, also recorded the sharpest increase in fresh cases from 169 on Monday.
Kallakurichi (47), Erode (115), mayiladuthurai (33) and sivaganga Cases saw a double-digit increase between Monday and Tuesday. Thanjavur recorded the sharpest drop in new cases, which declined from 104 on Monday to 53 on Tuesday.

Sixteen districts reported less than 20 cases and among them Perambalur, Thoothukudi, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirupattur, Theni and Ramanathapuram Cases reported in single digits. With three new cases, Ramanathapuram reported the lowest number of fresh cases.
19 deaths took the toll to 35,055. At the end of the day, after 1,576 people were discharged, the state had 16,205 people on the list of active cases. Out of 19 deaths, Chennai and Chengalpet There were three deaths each and two each in Coimbatore and Namakkal. Nine districts reported one death each and 25 reported zero deaths.
In September, on an average, around 5 lakh people are being vaccinated in a day in the state and the total dose has crossed 3.4 crore. The state had immunized 4.7 lakh people on Tuesday, while 5.2 lakh people had vaccinated on Monday, 2.9 lakh on Sunday and 6.2 lakh on Saturday. The vaccination coverage at private centers has reached 22.24 lakh from May 1.
