1. Taliban appointed Mullah Akhund as PM, most wanted Haqqani Interior Minister
The Taliban announced their government 22 days after the capture of Kabul. Chief spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund has been made the prime minister. Taliban chief Sheikh Hibdullah Akhundzada will be the supreme leader. The name of the government will be Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. America’s most wanted Sirajuddin Haqqani has been given the Home Ministry.

On this day in 2008, there was a bomb blast in Malegaon, Maharashtra. 37 people were killed in this attack. Also more than 125 were injured. At the time of the blast, members of the Muslim community were going towards the mosque to offer Friday prayers. Then there was an explosion at 1:15 pm. The case was initially investigated by the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra. ATS named SIMI as an accused in the investigation. The CBI also confirmed the same claim. Later, the task of investigating the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), then it blamed Abhinav Bharat Group behind the blast.
