The series, originally scheduled to start on July 13, has been pushed back by five days after batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst GT Niroshan, along with another player in a separate bio-bubble, tested positive for COVID-19. was given.

“Generally, the moment we get a positive result, we make the announcement. There has been another round of RT-PCR tests done yesterday and the results were due today. A source in the SLC told PTI that we get results only when there is a positive case.

“Since we haven’t received any positive reports, which we usually get till midday, it can be assumed that all the players have tested negative,” he said.

As far as its revised training schedule is concerned, it is understood that the Sri Lankan team will practice at Khetarama (R Premadasa Stadium) here, as the Indians are training at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (SSC).

“If all goes well, players who have returned from the UK will be able to come out of their hard quarantine (room isolation) and enter the bio-bubble. Strong testing is expected to continue as per norms (every third or fifth day),” he added.

Once players enter Bio-Bubble, they can at least visit each other in their rooms and start using the gym.

The Outdoor Training and Skills Session (NET Practice) is also expected to start in the next 48 hours.

When asked about the health condition of batting coach Flower and analyst Niroshan, the source said there has been no deterioration in their health or medical standards.

“Grant and Niroshan are in an isolation facility as per protocol. Both are asymptomatic and are doing fine now. To the best of our knowledge, there has been no deterioration in health. They will complete their prescribed isolation period,” he said.

The official is confident that there will be no problem ahead of the first ODI on July 18.
