Guwahati: Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala sitharaman stressed here on Thursday that the benefits of digital technology It should reach every nook and corner of the country to ensure the overall development of the country, an official statement said.
Presiding over a post-Budget interaction with industry stakeholders in the Northeast, Sitharaman said the government is taking “future steps” by focusing on growth through augmenting digital infrastructure in the country.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was present in the meeting, discussed ways to develop the start-up ecosystem in the state.

He also stressed on the need to expand the role of Indian Institute of Technology in taking over other institutions to promote the start-up sector.

Sitharaman was here on a day’s visit to attend the meeting. She avoided talking to the media and left for Delhi in the afternoon.
