Celebrities Mini Mathur, Shweta Tiwari and Mukti Mohan have lashed out at social media trolls for criticizing actor-TV presenter Mandira Bedi’s decision to dress her and perform the last rites of her late husband Raj Kaushal. Bedi found herself the target of social media trolls who objected to the clothes worn at her funeral. The actor, who broke several times during the funeral, was seen wearing jeans with a white casual top.

Some social media users also expressed outrage over the actor’s decision to perform the last rites of her husband, something that is traditionally performed by men. In a Twitter post on Saturday, actor-host-model Mini Mathur expressed her anger towards people trolling Bedi and said she should be commended for her strength.

“Makes me sick that people are doing a field day trolling a grieving woman on her husband instead of asking a stranger or her young child to perform the last rites. Or don’t have time to dress that way.” Unhappy women should dress the way they think. Stupid!! Appreciate her strength!” She wrote.

Shweta Tiwari, on the other hand, shared a screenshot of a post by a digital creator, questioning the mindset of men performing rituals and choice of attire during funerals. Tiwari wrote on his Instagram stories, “@MandiraBedi we are with you and proud of you for expressing our love so openly!”

Actor-dancer Mukti Mohan also came out in support of Bedi and expressed grief about how compassion and humanity is missing from the society, especially in the midst of such difficult times.

“Women are half humanity, half humanity uneducated, uneducated, deprived of freedom, we have hindered and handicapped ourselves.
We are a reflection of what is happening around us! And we have destroyed half of us and if we are in misery then who is to blame? Next time you face such situations, daughters, sisters, wives, mothers and sons of such mothers, brothers of such sisters, when you are asked when do you want to grieve/express/love!! Thank you for being @mandirabedi,” Mohan said.
