Shreyas Iyer showed his mettle in the 50th match of IPL 2017 against Gujarat Lions. Chasing an impressive target of 196, Delhi got off to a poor start as Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant were dismissed early. Iyer played an inning of 96 runs in 57 balls. Iyer’s brilliant innings helped Delhi register an improbable victory.

Many consider this to be Shreyas Iyer’s best IPL innings. The Delhi skipper lit up the Sharjah Stadium with a scintillating knock of 88 runs in just 38 balls. Delhi scored a huge score of 228 runs thanks to Iyer’s batting. Delhi Capitals won the match by 18 runs.

Shreyas Iyer was appointed as the captain in IPL 2018. Young Iyer led from the front and impressed immediately with his bold leadership. Iyer took full advantage of the short boundaries at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, scoring 93 off just 40 balls. His flamboyant innings, studded with three fours and ten sixes, bundled out Delhi for 219 runs.

Iyer showed his potential as a T20 player by scoring 83 off 56 balls in this game. Opening the innings, Iyer tore apart the formidable Mumbai pace attack that featured the likes of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah. Shreyas Iyer played the captaincy innings in the 2019 IPL. Chasing a tough target of 164 runs, the Delhi team kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Iyer showed nerves of steel and guided his side with his mature knock of 58 off 49 balls.
