Dr Rajasekhar’s latest film, Shekhar, was released in theaters on Friday, May 20, but screening was suspended on Sunday following a court order. Reportedly, a city-based civil court ordered a stay of the film’s theatrical release.
According to reports, the court heard the arguments on Monday. The film’s director Jeevitha Rajasekhar’s lawyer requested for lifting of the ban on the screening as it would cause a lot of damage to the producer and crew. As per the latest report, both the stakeholders have agreed after the prosecutor demanded payment of Rs. 87 lakhs to his client from the collection of the film.
The judge passed an order providing the account details within two days.
Meanwhile, one of the producers of the film, Beeram Sudhakar Reddy addressed the matter in a press conference and said that he had funded the film.
He further added that the remunerations of Jeevita and Rajasekhar had already been approved. He also said that if anyone now tries to harm his film, he will take legal action and file a defamation case against him.
Earlier, Dr Rajasekhar had also claimed on social media that the screening of the film was suspended due to a conspiracy.
He wrote an emotional note and said, “Shekar is everything to me and my family. We worked hard to bring this film to the audience. Shekhar was getting such a good response, but today, despite this, some people has hatched a conspiracy and stopped our film from releasing.”

Shekhar is the official adaptation of the 2018 Malayalam criminal thriller film Joseph. Shivani Rajasekhar shared the screen with her father for the first time in the full-length part.
The plot deals with the murder of potential donors to expedite organ transplants. Rajasekhar plays the role of an investigating officer in the film. Anoop Rubens composed the music, while Lakshmi Bhupala wrote the screenplay. The film is titled Vizitiran in Tamil, and Sunny Deol is reported to play the protagonist in the Hindi version.
