Savitri Classics is a special book written by Savitri’s daughter Vijaya Chamundeswari. It honours the incredible roles of Savitri, one of India’s greatest actresses. Their pair is amazing onscreen. I used to go to their movies first day, first show. As a fan, I wanted to meet her someday but after becoming an actor, my dream came true. Also, I am overwhelmed and I don’t have the words to talk about Savitri Garu. The fact that this event takes place in my presence makes me very happy,” he added.
I consider it my luck to have played alongside Savitri Garu as her son. I consider her like my mother. I still remember how she applauded me”, said Murali Mohan.
Savitri Classics is like a treasure chest full of memories that capture the magic of Savitri’s performances so that fans can honour them. Megastar Chiranjeevi and the legendary comedian Brahmanandam added a pinch of joy and humour to the event.
Speaking at the gathering, Chiranjeevi said that he was surprised to learn that Savitri Garu had played in his debut film Punadhirallu (1979).
Chiranjeevi remembered her first encounter with the late Savitri: “When I was taken to the Panchavati Hotel near Rajahmundry to introduce Savitri Garu, I stood there rooted for a while. She asked me for my name and wished me all the best. The next day, the shooting of Punadhirallu was cancelled due to heavy rains”.
Chiranjeevi told some other examples of his encounter with Savitri. I still remember the moment when I fell to a song in the movie while dancing. However, I found my rhythm and let myself drift. Mahanati Savitri, who watched me, said I would become a big star in the future. This recognition gave me a lot of strength.”
