Shark Tank India: Know how much Shark has invested so far in business offers

New Delhi: If you are still not hooked to the business reality show Shark Tank India, then you are definitely missing out on the action. Considered to be one of the top ranked commercial reality shows in the world, the show has managed to garner a lot of attention ever since it went live.

First launched in Japan in 2001 as ‘Tigers of Money’ on Nippon TV, the show format was adapted by the UK in 2005 and called Dragons Den there. After this, America picked it up in 2009 and now its 13th season is going on.

For non-beginners, the show is about entrepreneurs who give business presentations to a team of seven investors, or ‘sharks’, who decide whether the business is worth their investment. A Reddit post gave a glimpse of the amount invested by the judges on the business proposals on the show so far.

Here are the details of the investments made by ‘Shark’ in the show so far.

  1. According to the post, Aman Gupta, co-founder and CMO of boAt Lifestyle, a $295 million personal audio equipment brand, has invested Rs 6.69 crore in 23 deals. The Delhi-based businessman recently turned investor and invested his money in logistics firm Shiprocket and a few other ventures in 2021.
  2. Judge and jury member Namita Thapar, CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, is the second highly invested shark on the show. Thapar has so far invested Rs 4.48 crore in 15 deals. His company, through its subsidiary Genova Biopharmaceuticals, is developing an mRNA vaccine for COVID-19. According to a PTI report, the company is eyeing an IPO of Rs 4,000 crore.
  3. In third place is Lenskart co-founder and CEO and Public Officer, which has invested Rs 4.19 crore in 16 deals. Jugaadu Kamlesh’s Insecticide Trolley Spray is also one of the ventures that manages investments from sharks. Bansal, 36, co-founded Lenskart.com in June 2008 and six months ago the online prescription eyewear business Lenskart was worth $2.5 billion.
  4. Shark and Judge Ashneer Grover, managing director and co-founder of BharatPe, has invested a total of ₹3.96 crore in 15 ventures.
  5. Anupam Mittal, the founder and CEO of the parent company that founded popular matrimonial sites Shaadi.com, has invested Rs 3.71 crore in 16 deals. The 50-year-old is behind other businesses such as Makaan.com, a realty portal, and Mauj, a mobile media company.
  6. Vinita Singh, co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics, a digital-first brand, has zeroed in on six deals so far, with a total investment of Rs 1.52 crore.
