Shakib Al Hasan overtakes Lasith Malinga to become world’s highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket

New DelhiBangladesh cricket team’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday created history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in men’s T20 International cricket. He achieved the mega milestone in the ongoing Scotland vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup match after taking the wicket of Michael Leask of Scotland.

Shakib Al Hasan surpassed Lasith Malinga’s 107 T20 wickets to become the world’s highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. Earlier this year, Shakib completed his 100 T20I wickets against Australia and now has 108 wickets in 89 T20Is to his name. He is the first cricketer in the world to score 1000 runs as well as take 100 wickets in T20 International cricket.

New Zealand’s Tim Southee (99), Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi (98) and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (95) are among the highest wicket-takers in T20 cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan is at number two in the all-rounder rankings of T20 cricket, while he occupies the first place in ODI cricket. Apart from this, he is also the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in ODI cricket, leaving behind Mashrafe Mortaza.

He is already the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in all three formats. Shakib is also included in the list of four all-rounders who have scored 6000 runs in ODI cricket along with taking 250 wickets.

Talking about the Scotland vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup match, Shakib took two wickets for just 17 runs in his four overs. Apart from them, Mehndi Hasan took the highest three wickets for 19 runs and helped his team restrict Scotland to just 140 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Chris Greaves scored 45 runs for Scotland.
