Severe water crisis in Cherrapunji, Rajasthan: People are thirsty for water in the border villages of Banswara, digging pits in the dry river and searching for water

Due to the Mahi water system in Vagad, the southern part of Marudhara, there is a gift of greenery in the area. On the other hand, in the border area of ​​Banswara district, which is called Cherrapunji of Rajasthan, these days there is a dry condition due to the temperature exceeding 48 °C. In the last villages of the state adjoining the MP border, the triple problem including heat wave and scorching heat is the challenge of raising water for the animals along with drinking water for themselves.

Amidst the scorching heat, the Bhaskar team reached Halrapada village of Chhoti Sarwan Panchayat, 70 km away from the district headquarters. On reaching here, we found that 500 people from more than 100 families nearby were seen digging pits for water. The water of Telni river flowing in the ground gets collected here in Jhiri (pit), that is their support.

Villagers are worried since last 3 months
In other villages including Bijori, Perniadev and Kanjia of Kushalgarh tehsil, the problem of drinking water starts in March itself. Villagers are troubled for the last 3 months due to heat and water crisis and are now eagerly waiting for the monsoon.
