SER: Ms. Archana Joshi took over as General Manager, became the first woman GM. Rail Hunt

Kolkata. Ms. Archana Joshi, a 1985 batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, has taken over as the General Manager, South Eastern Railway on July 30, 2021. Prior to joining as General Manager, SER, Ms. Joshi was posted as Additional Member, Tourism & Catering, Ministry of Railways, Railway Board. She is the first woman officer to become the General Manager of South Eastern Railway. She is also the first woman IRTS officer to become the General Manager.

Ms. Joshi, an alumnus of Panjab University, Chandigarh, did her Masters in Sociology and is a gold medalist in her subject. He then completed his M.Phil in Public Policy and Administration. Ms. Joshi has worked in various Zonal Railways. Have worked in various positions in Northern Railway, North Western Railway, West Central Railway and North Eastern Railway as Additional General Manager, Chief Commercial Manager, Chief Operations Manager, Senior Deputy General Manager etc. He has also worked as Divisional Railway Manager, Kota, West Central Railway.

Ms. Joshi has the distinction of working in the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Environment and Forests to deal with issues of international cooperation in both the Ministries. He has traveled extensively, trained internationally in the USA and Europe and his contribution to rail transport on Indian Railways is remarkable, vast and varied. He has a keen interest in sports and socio-cultural activities.
