Noida: A proposed cultural wing of Greater Noida right (rub) will organize events and festivals to promote and showcase the city’s local art, officials said on Thursday.
The separate wing – a first for a civic body in Gautam Budh Nagar district – will likely include officers and staff members who are currently part of the authority.
“A senior officer of the level of general manager may be given additional charge. Its finer points are being chalked out. The wing will have its own funds allocated for organizing events and cultural events. At present, not many events are held in the townships,” said an official.
Greater Noida Industrial Development right (GNIDA) has sought suggestions from residents as to what kind of programs they would like to see. The official said the aim is to engage residents and promote local artists, rather than just focusing on well-known names in the industry.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can also be involved in this.
GNIDA will collaborate with local bodies and will focus on organizing several smaller programs as well. These may include programs for children and poetry conferences for poets.
