While schools in Uttar Pradesh will have a 40-day summer vacation this year, schools in Andhra Pradesh will be closed from May 1 and will reopen on June 12.

The month of May marks the beginning of summer vacation for students and teachers in most of the states across the country. With almost a month off from school, the holidays in May provide the longest opportunity for students to unwind, play and develop new interests or skill sets as they prepare for the coming academic year.

Several Indian states have announced their summer vacation dates, so let’s take a look at them:

Kerala

As of 2 April, Kerala’s public schools were officially closed for a 60-day summer vacation that would last until the end of May. Education Minister V Sivankutty announced summer vacation for classes 1 to 9. The new academic session for 2023-24 is scheduled to begin from June 1.

West Bengal

In view of the scorching heat across the state, the summer vacation in schools run and aided by the West Bengal government will begin from May 2 instead of the earlier schedule of May 24. The education authorities have not released the date to start the academic session 2023-2024.

Madhya Pradesh

have summer holidays has been declared in the schools of Madhya Pradesh, Schools have given holidays from May 1 to June 15. School teachers can expect their summer vacations from May 1 to June 9. The new academic session for the year 2023-24 has started from 17 April.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh state government has announced the summer vacation schedule for schools. Schools are due to close with effect from May 1 and will reopen on June 12. This instruction has been issued by School Education Commissioner S Suresh Kumar. The last working day for the 2022-23 academic year is April 30. All schools, both public and private, in the state will reopen on June 12.

Tamil Nadu

Schools following the Tamil Nadu State Board syllabus have been closed for summer vacation starting April 29. As per the annual schedule announced by the school education department in Chennai on April 28, schools will resume on June 5 for classes 1 to 5 and for classes 1 through 5. June 1st from 6 to 12.

Maharashtra

The summer vacation for students in primary, middle and high schools in Maharashtra began on April 21. The schools are scheduled to reopen on June 15. Government of Maharashtra summer vacations announced In view of the widespread heat wave across India.

Odisha

Summer vacations in Odisha were to begin from April 19, however, the date was later revised. According to the Odisha Education Department, the summer vacation is scheduled from May 5 to June 18.

Jharkhand

Summer vacation in Jharkhand will run from May 21 to June 10. The upcoming academic year 2023-24 is scheduled to begin on 12 June.

Uttar Pradesh

Schools in Uttar Pradesh will have 40 days of summer vacation this year. The academic schedule indicates that the summer vacation will be from May 21 to June 20. If there is any change in the dates then the education department will issue a separate notification.
