Saxena had last month given permission to the CBI to register a case in the matter.

Later, the Center paved the way for registration of a fresh case against senior AAP leader Sisodia by allowing the CBI to prosecute it in a case related to alleged collection of “political intelligence” through a Delhi government department.

The Union Home Ministry informed the LG’s office of sanction to prosecute Sisodia under Section 17 (Powers to police to investigate a public servant) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The letter to Saxena further said, “We draw your kind attention to the recent reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought your sanction to prosecute Delhi government minister Manish Sisodia in the matter of setting up Feedback and Received. Unit (FBU) by the Government of Delhi a few years ago. This approval has been sought under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

“Sir, we would like to draw your kind attention to the fact that if the Delhi government, with the full knowledge of its chief minister, in the presence of the entire cabinet and senior government officials, approves and sets up an entity that has the capability and intent to data to intercept and collect information, electronic data etc. with the ability to listen/watch/record which is neither constitutionally or in any other way permitted to this Government being part of its duties and responsibilities, then It is not just a matter of corruption.
